  • Have on-street parking that’s legal and available outside your property
  • Provide evidence of highways authority approval for a cross-pavement solution

This grant does not entitle you to a reserved on-street parking space. Others may still legally park there, even if you have a charger installed.

Permissions required

You must obtain the following before applying:

  1. Local Highways Authority Consent
    This allows the installation of a cross-pavement charging solution on public footpaths. Each council has different rules and processes. You will need to provide proof of consent during the application process.

  2. Planning Permission (if applicable)
    Depending on your location and the layout of your property, planning permission may be required. You must declare that you will seek this approval where necessary.

  3. Landlord/Managing Agent Consent
    If you rent or share ownership, you’ll need written permission from the relevant party.

  • You already installed a charger before applying;
  • You’re planning to move house soon;
  • You won’t install a permanent cross-pavement solution;
  • You want to replace or relocate an existing charger.

What is a cross-pavement charging solution?
A safe, permanent method for running a charging cable from your home to a vehicle parked on the street including:
  • A recessed cable channel installed in the pavement;
  • Cable gully systems approved by your local council;

Temporary solutions like mats, covers, or trailing cables are not accepted under the OZEV scheme
