OZEV Electric Car Charger Grant for Renters and Flat Owners (2025)
This grant is designed to assist electric car drivers who are renters or own a flat with 75% off (up to £350.00) towards the costs associated with the purchase and installation of an EV Charger or Chargepoint.
Eligibility for this grant extends to those who either:

OZEV Electric Car Charger Grant for Renters and Flat Owners (2025–2026)
If you live in a flat or rent a property and own an electric vehicle, you could receive up to £350 off the cost of buying and installing an EV chargepoint socket at your home. The EV Chargepoint Grant for Renters and Flat Owners is funded by OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) and is available until 31st March 2026.

- Own and live in a flat
- Rent a flat or house (including shared ownership schemes)
What does the grant cover?
- 75% off the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint socket
- Up to £350 maximum per socket
- Available for one grant per eligible vehicle per person
Eligibility requirements
To apply for this EV grant, you must:
Vehicle:
- Own, lease, or be assigned an OZEV-eligible electric vehicle
- Be the registered keeper, primary user, or have proof of order
- Lease must be at least 6 months
- Check the full list of eligible vehicles on GOV.UK.
- Must be a residential property in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland
- You must either own and live in a flat, or rent a home or flat
- Your property must have a designated, private off-street parking space
- You must be a resident at the property
Parking:
- The parking space must be private, off-street, and suitable for installation
- If it's a separate car park or garage, you must prove legal entitlement
- Parking must allow safe EV charging and be accessible at all times
Not eligible if:
- You already received a grant under this scheme (or its predecessor, EVHS)
- You're moving home soon
- You want to replace or relocate an existing charger
- You own a house (this grant is only for flats and rented homes)
How to apply:
- Contact an OZEV-approved installer like Herts EV Specialists Ltd to get a quote for the work.
- If you accept the quote, you can ask us to start your claim.
- We will send you an email with a link to an online form.
- You use the form to provide details of your property and your vehicle to OZEV. The form checks that you are eligible for the grant.
- If you are eligible for the grant, OZEV will let us know that we can start the work.
- We must either complete the work within 90 days of your application being approved, or request an extension.
- When your new EV Charger installation is complete, we will claim the grant on your behalf.
- We will give details of your chargepoint to OZEV, along with photographs of the installation and invoice.
- Once OZEV approves the application they will pay out the grant.

Audits
OZEV occasionally audits completed installations. If selected, you’ll be contacted by an auditor for a quick site inspection. This is routine and nothing to worry about.
